When/who first came up with the idea of having *chocolate eggs* at Easter in addition to the traditional eggs?
He or she deserves a Nobel Prize! But I am really curious to know when this started. (I already know all about why there is an egg tradition for Easter, and earlier Spring Equinox holidays.)
I want to know about the Chocolate!

Chocolate Easter eggs date back to Germany and France in the early 1800's. There was a tradition of giving solid chocolate eggs as gifts. The first chocolate eggs were not the sweet milk chocolate that many people know today; they were small and made with a very bitter dark chocolate.
In 1819 The pioneer of Swiss chocolate-making, François Louis Callier, opens the first Swiss chocolate factory in Corsier, near Vevey.
For what it's worth: 1839 A German baker named Stollwerck begins a business that grows into one of the largest companies in Germany, producing a variety of chocolate products and brands. 1840 The first pressed chocolate tablets, pastilles and figures are produced in Belgium by the chocolate company Berwaerts. http://www.thenibble.com/reviews/main/chocolate/the-history-of-chocolate.asp
