Yesterday I plugged my curling iron into my bathroom plug. I washed my hands before getting ready to curl my hair, so the sink was half full with water. I grab the curling iron and accidentally drop it into the water right before I touch it to my hair. We went outside to turn the power off and I unplugged the curler. It was burning hot even after 15 minutes of being in the water, so I don't think it automatically turned off or shut down. I am still wary about plugging it back in because of electrocution. Is sit still safe to plug it back in and continue using it? If it doesn't work, I can get a new one but I just want to try and use it again. Will it injure me if I plug it in? Thank you.

I would dry it out very thoroughly and then use an extension cord. First: Plug the Iron into the cord and lay the iron down on pavement or a brick wall (outdoors). Then get at least 10 feet away at the other end of the cord and plug the cord into an outlet. Wait 5 minues to be sure and then slowly approach the iron to see if it is at normal temperature. Watch for any strange behavior during that 5 minutes. If it does anything abnormal, throw it away and buy a new one.

As long as it is completely dry there shouldn't be any problem pluging it back in. If it was still heated even after falling in the sink it probably didn't short out so it should be ok.
