Cat has a tumor under tongue?

My Prince has a tumor under his tongue. We just got a call from the vet. (They have to knock him out to clean his teeth from gingivitis they just found.) So would the tumor be ON the tongue or under it? Will he be okay? Can they remove that kind of thing? They're doing a biopsy but I can't wait, I wanna know what's going on. Anybody had experience with this kind of thing to tell me outlooks, what they can do, if it's irreversible/fast growing... whatever?

Ignore Andysam! Some people are just cold and unfeeling!

I am sorry that Prince has a tumor, but hopefully it was caught early enough to have it removed. Don't get too worried, yet. He is in good hands if the vet was thorough enough to find the tumor. Many tumors are operable and the cats live a normal happy life after the surgery. My friend had one in his ear as a young adult, about 5 or 6 years old. It was removed, and he lived to be a happy old man, passing at the age of 15-16 years old. Modern science has many wonders!

Best wishes!

All these questions are for your vet. No one here can tell you what it is. You will get guesses and that is all. You will have to wait for the vet to get answers. No one can tell you how long he will live or how quick the tumor will or will not grow. Five stars in not worth guessing and giving you the wrong answer, which may or may not be what is happening to your cat. Make your list of questions about your cat and keep it close by so when the vet does call you can get your answers. Good luck with your baby... R P CAT

My 17 yr old cat just recently had what we thought was a tumor on his gum line that was keeping him from eating. It ended up being a swollen salivary gland and not cancer. Don't worry to much, I am sure it will be fine. Good luck.
