My Roommate's Cat?
So, my roommate has a cat. Her cat is very sick, but, for obvious reasons, she doesn't want to put the car down. Her cat has a tumor under her tongue. All she can eat is strained, blended tuna and milk. I feel like I smell like tuna and warm milk all the time. Her cat can no longer clean herself, and she frequently bleeds from the mouth. I'm so afraid that I'm going to come home one day and she'll be dead. HELP!

Please explain as gentley as possible that there is a thing called quality of life and for reasons described she is not being humane but very selfish. She should have the cat put down and maybe cremated and placed in an urn. There are also support groups for grieving pet owners. Look to the local Humane Society for these groups. Best of luck.

Aww that is the saddest thing... I had a cat with stomach cancer and we had to put her to sleep because she was obviously in a lot of pain and throwing up everything... making the decision to euthanize a beloved animal is never an easy one... but sometimes an owner has to care more for the animal's comfort than for his or her feelings. It sounds like that cat is on its last legs. Your roommate needs to bring her cat in to see a vet for a consultation. That way if there's any way to make the cat better (like maybe removing the tumor?) and saving its life, the vet would know. At the same time, the vet would also be able to tell if the cat is ready to pass on.
Btw, as I'm sure you know, something is -terribly- wrong with a cat if it has stopped grooming itself.
I'm terribly sorry for your roommate, I love cats... it's a devastating loss and a horribly hard decision to make to euthanize an animal (I get sad just hearing about animals they have to euthanize on various animal rescue shows! I know how hard it has to be when you're actually emotionally invested in the animal in question)... but unfortunately, it kind of goes along with owning pets.
Good luck. Be prepared to be a shoulder to cry on.

I would tell my roommate in not so many words that the best thing she could do for her is to put her down. Its actually very cruel that she is suffering. Its hard to do but at least the cat isn't in any pain any more. I would also ask her if she needed help making a vet appt. I would also let her know that if she needed you to take the cat to the vet you would or that you would go with her to offer support. I'm sure that she is very attached to the cat and its like losing a family member. Good luck

Maybe you should sit down with your roommate and tell her the cat is suffering and it hurts her that it might be best to have the cat put to sleep. The cat is slowly dieing and she will not get any better. Find out if she would like you to take the cat to the vet. And bring the cat back in a box bring a blanket to rap her cat in and she can bury the cat in a pretty place in the yard. I just had to do this myself. I made a flower garden where I buried my kittie.

Have your roommate bring the cat to the vet and get a vet's opinion. Maybe the tumor can be removed. Otherwise, if the cat is in bad shape the vet will recommend to put it down.

in line with risk your pal isn't paying the cat's situation heavily....You seem to care greater suitable to the wellbeing of the cat. What you're able to do is swap the cat's food, each each now and then this is a definite element contained in the food making the cat vomit. attempt feeding it purely dry food, no longer canned meals. So attempt the variety "goodlife" , some thing with fowl or salmon in this is sturdy, stay faraway from tuna. provide the cat time to conform with that food, in case you spot that the cat is recovering then keep giving him that food. i desire to advise additionally attempting a food habitual that has fish oil in it and which will sidestep laying off simply by fact cats vomit to do away with extra fur. Does the cat groom itself continuously? some cats groom greater excessively than others. I even have 2 cats of my very own and one is grooming itself a minimum of two circumstances as much as my different cat. The yellow one that grooms nonstop would vomit each and all of the time simply by fact of that. the different cat besides the indisputable fact that would in no way vomit. If the cat keeps to vomit , then this is not any longer widespread and it would desire to have parasites or yet another severe situation, please communicate your pal into taking the cat to the vet. Oh and you suggested the cat vomits liquid and sturdy...that makes me have faith that it is the food that's inflicting hassle for the undesirable cat.it somewhat is precisely how my cat used to vomit and as quickly as we replaced this is food habitual it have been given greater effective, each now and them he vomits besides the indisputable fact that this is furry vomit :O, meaning this is simply by fact he grooms excessively, besides the indisputable fact that this is not any longer something which will injury my cat. Please do your ultimate for the sake of the cat!

is both of your names on the lease for the place? i would sit down with her and explain how you feel. let her know that her cat is suffering and see if she would want to suffer like that. most likely she wouldn't want to suffer light that. if your name is the only one on the lease, i would tell her that if she doesn't take care of that cat and get it put to sleep, that she will have to find another place to live. if she wants the companionship, my dad's cat just had 5 babies (one died), they were born right before easter and i will give one to you at no charge..
