It could be both inherited and learned. For example, if both parents are expert musicians, the child will be more likely to have more neural connections in the areas of the brain that correspond to playing music (ie, the area of the brain that is involved in playing an instrument will be denser). However, a skill such as playing a musical instrument cannot be purely inherited, it must be learned. Anybody can learn to play an instrument and the density in their brain will change, correspondingding to the skill being learned. Every time we learn something new, new connections are made within the brain, increasing the density of the relevant area.

Well they have to learn to play the instrument and if their parents had a background in playing that instrument then that's a inherited trait
