science vs religion- Science is FLAWED?
ok. religious people say
"How can you trust science? You believe it just becuase a man tells you? It was made by man. Anything made by man is inherently flawed. Science is constantly going back to the drawing board"
This may be an accurate statement. Science is flawed. HOWEVER, if you apply the same logic to religion its the same. Religion was made by man. How can you just blindly believe in religion? men created it
science changes its mind alot on things. But, thats not the point!! Did you read the rest of the question? lol
IS ANYONE READING THE FULL DESCRIPTION??? LOL. REVERSE THE LOGIC

Why does science change its mind a lot you say? Well its because science is open minded to accept new logical ideas, everyone makes mistakes right? yes, so what you do is you fix your mistake and try to improve it rather than sticking to the spiritual bullshit for thousands of years you ******* cavemen.

There are millions of religious people who accept many of the Scientific theories but keep their faith in God.
For eg: Many Catholics accept the Big Bang as the best scientific explanation of how the universe came to be, but unlike an atheist, the Catholic will believe God was the cause of it happening and same with the evolution process etc ...
And of course Science can be flawed, but Science learns from flaws and tries to correct them by empirical means ...
Religion is a personal faith ...

"Science" doesn't have a "mind" to change.
"Science" is the scientific method, which is not flawed -- it's shown by massive amounts of evidence to be the most reliable way we humans have ever devised for finding out facts about the universe.
Because it works on evidence, and we often don't have enough evidence to show conclusively how something works, our conclusions are often tentative. They're never declared as "absolute truth," what they are at any one time are the best conclusions we can reach based on the evidence we have. As more or better evidence comes in, our conclusions get updated. The more we learn, the more confidence we have about our conclusions being correct. That's how it works, and that's why it's the most reliable method we humans have ever devised for finding out facts.
"Belief" or "faith" isn't involved.
Peace.

Science is our point of view on how things function in the universe. From
The Big Bang to the discovery that you could capture missingno in Pokemon without crashing your game this is all how we think the world works. Religion is sent from God, depending on your religion you have different beliefs, (I am Muslim to those wondering) so do scientists, they have different beliefs, or theories as we call them on how the world works, think of it as this: Religious people think that eating pork is bad, (in Islam it is) but scientists (At least non Islamic ones) believe pork is as any other meat. (Bad example :P) so going away from pork, science is the perception of how the world works to us, of course we are wrong in many things, but right in others. Some things discovered were because of religion. So, Religion and Science are our perception and belief of how everything works, it isn't religion or science that's flawed, it's us...

The fact that science changes is what's good about it. Also, the fact that any other person can recreate an experiment can observe the results.
God makes man. Man is flawed. God creates flaws.

Well I have been reading a lot into Buddhism these days, really digging it. It is known as a "religion", yes, but once you begin studying you see that it is really more of a life philosophy. But, since it is a religion, and it has no qualms with science, it actually goes hand in hand with scientific discoveries, I think you should re-phrase to "most religions" or "christianity" specifically.

Science doesn't ALWAYS go back to the drawing board. It just applies new information. Religion does not.

Theist: read the question on the screen evilscientists invented, can't see so reach for the glasses evilscientists invented. Feel thirsty so goes for the fridge evilscientists invented, drink a plastic cup evilscientists invented of water which evilscientists invented the method to make it drinkable, quickly and confidently type on the keyboard evilscientists invented "Why should I trust science, has it ever done anything for me"

Science isn't flawed.
There is a thing called scientific theory and then there is a thing called scientific fact.
Theory is a theory and fact is a fact.
Religious people can not relate to this because they are involved in a world of 100% theory and can not decipher what the difference is between fact of theory. Their decisions are not based on hard evidence but based on faith.

True science never presents itself as infallible. Sciences say merely that it seeks the truth of the nature of that which is based on reliable, verifiable and/or quantifiable facts and observable data in an ongoing, self correcting, methodical manner that has repeatedly proven its understandings and knowledge by the application of the same. By its very nature and method, science is an open ended system.
Religions, superstitions, et al, are closed systems that state they have the one and only truth as they often deny scientific evidence that contradicts their position, as they deny the contradictions of their beliefs in their own scriptures supposed given to them or revealed to them by an infallible, invisible, anthropomorphous deity/being of unspecified origin, as they cast doubts upon the supposed gods of all of the other faiths all of which have the exact same level and type of proof or evidence for the existence of their god as they do (i.e., none at all).
If those who profess religious beliefs applied the same critical eye that they employ onto all other faiths and onto science, they would find that their faith, too, lacks substance and merit as they fail to see all that science has produced by the application of its hard acquired knowledge, things they enjoy even as they respond to your post such as controllable electrical power, communication equipment and systems, computer keyboards and the internet, the luxury of food production that surpassed need, air conditioning, modern medicines and on and on.
The position of the religionist is a sad one as it denies that very spirit of humankind that lead us from cowering in caves to reaching for the stars. One can cling to the illusion, false hopes and comforts of a self chosen delusion however, in the end, it is still only a delusion (to paraphrase the late Dr. Carl Sagan).
You post is valid as is the point you are trying to make. It might be worthwhile for many of the respondents to read, "The Demon Haunted World", by Dr. Sagan. He writes in a style that will be easy for the majority to understand. His explanations are very good as well as correct. He encourages all to simply stop and think rather than to stop thinking.
