I remember when I was little I was not afraid to talk to anyone. I would even try to get with a girl. Now I'm very awkward and it's hard for me to socialize with new people. I think it's because I'm afraid to embarrass myself. I've had many embarrassments throughout my life and I guess the memories are just constantly running through my head. People even say I look scared all the time but I'm not.

Look up social anxiety. I used to have it, and I was just like you are now. You may have a mild form of it, and would be best treated by CBT (i.e. a psychologist)
Write these these affirmations out for 2 months straight as much as you can (like you would do for a homework assignment/studying for school), do NOT miss any days. Even if you don't believe them at first keep doing it & you will notice a change
I am confident and relaxed in all situations. I am always calm, courageous, & sociable. I love & accept myself for who I am.
