How you remove the shroud on the steering column of a 91 Ford F 150 ?
I need to get to the ignition switch, but I can't get the shroud off.
There's a nutton that goes in and out but nothing happens.

If you look at the bottom there will be three holes. Some have a torx while some are phillips screws. You will need a long screw driver as they are sunk way up in there. Take those screws out and the bottom will come off, then the top can be removed.

Do you need to remove the lock cylinder or the electrical ignition switch? To remove the tumbler push up the button while the key is in Acct a.d pull the thing out. The electrical switch is on top of the column under the dash. The shroud is held with 2 or3screws and comes off in two pieces you will have to unscrew the tilt lever to get the bottom half off.

Disconnect the battry, turn your key to the run position then push lock button (located through hole in shroud) pull cylinder free. screws holding 2 shroud pieces together. Once inside you will find a linkage controling a rod to the actual electrical ignition switch. Very common for the linkage part to break (have changed several). If the button you are refering to is on the bottom then it will be a lock for tumbler set to return to the lock position...
