Do I need a hamster wheel?
Do I really need a hamster wheel in the cage if I take her out a few times a day to play in her exercise ball?

Yes. While they are optional for some other rodents, wheels are considered necessary for hamsters.
Hamsters need a LOT of exercise, and running in a hamster ball just isn't enough for them. Especially since a hamster should not be in a ball for more than 15 - 20 minutes at a time (hamster balls have poor ventilation). Hamsters will run on their wheels for hours at a time--they can run several miles per night.
Another reason is that hamsters are nocturnal. I know mine does most of her running between 3:00am and 6:00am. They need their exercise at night, not during the day.
So yes, you definitely need to get a wheel.

Yes you do need a hamster cage. An exercise wheel may be similar to the ball, but really, they need it. Plus, it won't take up your time to put it in a ball and wash your hands. And also, here's a tip! DO NOT wake up a sleeping hamster, never. They will bite, scratch, isn't nice to wake them up, and they need the energy for their crazy adventure at night. As you know, they sleep during the day and have a wild party at night! :) I hope this helped! For more information, click on the source below. :) Thank you for letting me answer! Hope you rate this! How many times do u take her out? 3 times a day should be about enough. u probably dont need a hamster wheel. if u already have the wheel, test it to see which one she likes more.
