Noisy hamster wheel, cant sleep, help!?

Ha a silent wheel that attaches to the cage, never lol. I have a hamster and the only way I have seen is either 1 take out the wheel which is no fun for the hamster :( 2 ear plugs work wonders or 3 you can get one to put in the cage that doesnt attach to the side of the cage. If you keep it well lubricated with vegtiable oil it hardly makes noise. I would recomend opiton 3 :) thats what I did and I sleep like a dream.

Hamster do exercise at night more than at any other time as in the wild the usually run several miles a night to find food. I wouldn`t take out the wheel unless you replace it with a silent wheel. Or maybe you could move the hamster to a room where you will not hear it while you are going to sleep? Hope I helped!

Try to pad the bottom under the wheel more or put a weight on the cage. Or move the cage somewhere else, out of earshot.

I was told the same things about th *silent" wheel......so I compromised with my hamsters. lol

Hamsters are nocturnal animals and no matter what you do he will be active at night. A wheel is imperative for him to have, with lack of such exercise hamsters can become paralysed. You may adjust to hearing the noise at night, kind of like how some people will adjust to hearing the tv or a fan running at night. If you can't adjust to the noise, move him to another room where you won't be disturbed by the noise

I have the exact same problem with my hamster wheel. I solved this by purchasing a wheel that sits inside of the cage and does not attach to anything. This has a tiny squeak that is resolved by putting oil on the spinning part of the wheel. This has worked great.

is it the red and white silent wheel? sometimes my wheel will make noise if my robos are running really fast on it. but i can just drown it out. i sleep with the tv on anyways. i don't suggest getting rid of the wheel. most hamsters are more active at night, and if you take it out he may become restless. then he will probably chew at the cage bars.

Move the cage to another room while you're sleeping and then when you wake up, move the cage back into your room.

Also, take the wheel back to the store and ask for a refund because of false advertisement.

instead of hooking the wheel to the cage, bury it in the bedding. it shouldn't shake the cage as much, and as long as you keep it well oiled (with vegetable oil), there shouldn't be a problem.

The problem is the cage, it isn't secure and planted on whichever surface you are resting it on. A different cage is the easiest solution if your attempts to cushion it fail.
