HOW DO THEY CHECK WHY I GET UTIS SO OFTEN?

I am going to the Gyno tomorrow and I get utis very often, how do they check the reasoning behind it? will they give me blood tests? i have a fear of blood and needles and i really dont want to do that.

You need to drink lots of water/clear fluids and wash with mild soap and water immediately after sex. Cranberry juice daily can also help. The reason is that bacteria are collecting in your ureter, either by not being flushed out or by being forced into the area by sex or by not wiping correctly (front to back). They should not need a urine or blood sample, except to test to find out whether or not you actually have a urinary tract infection (then it is a urine sample they need -no needles, don't fear). Sometimes, if a UTI goes long enough untreated, the infection can spread to the kidneys. If so, you may need a blood test then, but you would have pretty extreme pain in the kidney region and a high fever -not easy to overlook. Good luck to you.

They may take urine or blood. Possibly a pelvic exam.
