Does knowing the truth change your mind about this video?
Recently here and other places much has been made about this video http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4301487,00.html
At least this Israeli version admits that the little girls brother was violently detained just earlier. However it doesn't mention that so was her mother. Nor does it mention that the demonstrators are in a Palestinian village, on Palestinian property to protest the occupation of the town's water supply- a spring on PRIVATE PALESTINIAN PROPERTY. Settlers, with IDF aid, built a shed in which they sit and force Palestinian who try to use the spring, away at gunpoint.
Videos were edited and released to make it appear the children were "set upon" the IDF. When watching a much longer, unedited version the truth becomes clear http://palsolidarity.org/2012/08/video-soldiers-attack-children-in-nabi-saleh-and-forcibly-separate-them-from-their-detained-mother/
Or do you support land theft and arresting those who protest against it?
@shay, guess you've never seen a Viet Nam protest. EVERY protest here in the Western World is preceding by a call to the media- it's the reason there ARE protests. What is your truth? Do you deny the girls mother was arrested? Do you deny that settlers are occupying a spring that is located on PRIVATE PALESTINIAN PROPERTY? Do you deny these settlers are refusing to allow Palestinians access to THEIR spring on THEIR property? Instead of debating specific points, you just deny the whole story, without ANY evidence contrary.
No sir, there TRUTH and there's FABRICATION. I have supplied evidence; at the VERY least, the WHOLE video shows that the soldiers were not just innocent lams while children spat at them.
@simple simon- are you saying the video is a lie? Then what is your point? The IDF is lying too? They don't debate the authenticity of the video, they just showed only a snippet.
@esther guess you didn't see the part when the girl's mother was arrested- and the fact her brother was violently detained was mentioned in the yNet article. And I think the most important thing is protesters AREN'T arrested at least not for trying to evict people who have occupied their private property. In fact pretty much anywhere else in the Western World, it would be the SETTLERS being arrested. Strange how you don't mention THAT!
you know what's so depressing? These people were protesting they can't get to THEIR WELL. It's on PRIVATE PALESTINIAN LAND. So far I haven't seen any pro-Israeli speak out against it. I hear how settlers buy the land, they don't steal; well not in THIS case. Yet when a protest happens, I hear how terrible these Palestinians are for having the nerve to say settlers shouldn't take their land. This isn't "disputed" this is outright theft. And it's depressing because until Israeli supporters can admit that it DOES happen and condemn it- there will never be peace.
@shay BTW If I was the platoon commander/leader, I would've evicted the settlers- upholding the law. Thus negating the need for the protest in the first place.
@esther- the soldier's did nothing wrong? So the fact that they are allowing settlers to not only occupy Palestinian private property, allowing the settlers to threaten Palestinians at gunpoint for the audacity of trying to get at THEIR OWN spring doesn't bother you? The fact that this is neither Israel nor even a settlement doesn't bother you? Thankyou, I believe you've just summed up what is so wrong about the occupation. You see nothing wrong with Israelis taking Palestinian land- and holding it by force. You see nothing wrong with soldiers arresting Palestinians who protest the fact. Again all on PALESTINIAN PRIVATE PROPERTY. I'm sorry but democracies don't work that way or aren't supposed to. And in the West when they DO something like that- people PROTEST.
@jonah, so to be clear, you advocate killing people for having the audacity for telling people to not take their property? Yea, and it's PALESTINIANS who don't want peace!
@john that's some chutzpah. If I were you I wouldn't bring up killing children. If that's your guideline then Palestinians are FAR more moral then Israelis- according to YOUR standards, not mine. Israel has killed more Palestinian children- and by quite a bit, then Palestinians. In fact the IDF shot a little boy in the head, killing him, at the site of the demonstrations. Think before you post!
