Senior Citizens, some clubs have names of animals. Are you a member of any?
I am thinking of Elks Club and Lions Club. And then there is the Moose. Most of these are disappearing in my area.
BQ: Do you know names of others?

Yes, but they are not "Clubs" they are called fraternal organizations. In addition to providing social services to communities, they also have insurance for members and other social benefits. The are not considered "Social Clubs" and do not exist for the entertainment of older people. Numerous organization exist what do not have animal names like the Foresters, Woodmen, Sons of Italy, The Clans of Scotland, Afro-American Sons and Daughters, Sons of Denmark. The list goes on and on. Type Fraternal Organization\s into the search and you will find lists of international organization as well as organizations that are group by country.

Even the sound of them seem so old-fashioned. I think of Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble and the Grand Poobah, or whatever they called the head guy. And, of course, Ralph Kramden and Ed Norton. LOL. In my town where I grew up, there was a hall with the letters IOOF above the door and I always wondered what it was. When my stepdad told me it was the International Order of Odd Fellows, I thought that was very strange, but he said they had been around for a very, very long time. I know there is a Moose Lodge in the town nearest to us and they have weekly fish or spaghetti dinners, though we've never been. The Lions Clubs are known for their charitable work, especially with donating and distributing used eyeglasses. I think most of them exist solely for the companionship of older fellas, with some charitable work thrown in, and there's nothing wrong with that!

The only organization I've ever belonged to in my life was the Cub Scouts, in which I only achieved the rank of Wolf. Always out of step with the pack. Didn't even have the patience to become a Bear.

I was once a Cub Scout, and qualified as a bear. I wish I still was a bear sometimes.
