Where can I find an Army regulation on newlywed dual military couples? The amount of time that they are given to move out of barracks?
We are both Army and my command told us we have two weeks to move out of the barracks after we get married. I have heard you are given at least 30 days with 10 days permissive tdy to look for a place to live. Unfortunately I cannot find the policy or regulation. Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

DUH, the clock does not start on the day you get married, the clock is already running. You know you are getting married at some point in the future and they are giving you two weeks after that. You only get the ten days of permissive TDY if you are both being moved to a new base, not to look around where you currently live.
IMHO you would be foolish to try to stay in the barracks as long as possible. You each are entitled to a housing allowance when you move out and you are giving up BOTH of them by staying in the barracks. I would find a house or apartment so you can move in immediately and start getting the housing allowances immediately.
Permissive TDY for house hunting is granted ONLY when a Soldier first arrives at a new duty station. If neither of you is currently in the process of PCSing at a new duty station, you do not qualify for pTDY. Since you are both already at your duty station, and you KNEW you were getting married, you could have been house hunting in your off-duty time.
There is no time frame, unless your post has its own local policies. Unless you are buying a house, it should take you less than a week to locate and secure off-post housing. You cannot begin to draw BAH until you have a memorandum from housing showing that you have moved out of the barracks; your w/o dependents BAH will begin as of that date, NOT the date of your marriage.
If your command tells you that you have 2 weeks, then you have 2 weeks.
Ask your chain of command the policy or regulation requiring you to move out, if they don't comply, go to your IG office but tell you chain of command you are doing so (if you don't get an answer).
From experience, if you are drawing BAH, you are not authorized the barracks unless the command allows it. 30 days, never heard of that one, but permissive TDY is usually in conjunction with a PCS move, however, you can ask your chain of command for it anyways.
there is no over all reg. it is strictly command policy and the Q's policy. if there is a huge need for your rooms, they can and will make you move out ASAP. keep in mind you CANNOT start collecting BAH until you move out of the Barracks.
ignore the link to about.com.. not an official source and is rarely current anyway.
usually the 30 days comes into play BEFORE HAND..where you ask for and get permission to move out 30 days prior to getting married so that you can establish BAH( which can take up to 45 days to kick in) and get situated in an apartment prior. they do not have to give you all 30 days though.
