Should I ask him out? (10 POINTS)?

Question

I'm a 17-year-old girl. I'm super shy and quiet but I've liked this guy for awhile (ever since the start of the school year). He's really out going and is into all of these different sports. The only school-related things we have in common is that we're both in band. But at the same time he's very sweet and polite (the kind to hold doors open for people and such).

I know that we have the same interests (because, like I said, he's out going) but since I'm shy he doesn't know anything about me. The only time we talk is when it's school related (projects, homework, etc.).

I admit I'm a bit overweight (20ish pounds) but I'm really busty and people tell me I have a pretty face. He's not popular at all with girls though, so I don't know if my appearance would be that big of a problem.

I wanted to ask him out this Friday since it'd be the day our school celebrates Valentine's Day (and we have break all next week), but I'm not sure if that's a good idea since he doesn't know me that well. I don't want to do anything that'll scare him off, and I don't want to embarrass myself.

What are your thoughts? Please help me! I've been thinking about this for days.

I think the best thing you can do is to be confident and talk to him. A lot of people are scared that when they go and talk to the opposite sex, they will get laughed at but that is not the case. If anything, he may really want to talk to you! I would go up to him and be as relaxed as possible; talk about anything with him - you know a great deal about what he is into, so why not talk about those things! The key though is to be relaxed; if your relaxed when you speak to him, then he will be relaxed and there won't be any awkward silences.

My thoughts are that you should ask him out BUT that the valentine's thing might be too much pressure when you really aren't sure how it will go. I think it would be better (in my opinion) if you believe he doesn't know much about you, to at least start giving him a glimpse of your personality... I mean, you know you like him, but it's not really unfair if he doesn't know if he doesn't like you if he doesn't really know you. That might be too much on the spot for a big ask out... but def start working on this and letting him know that you're someone to like.

I really respect the fact that you are bold and confident to the make the first move, rather than wait for him to do it. as a guy, I would really appreciate a girl who goes for what she wants and that alone would give any girl a chance, unless they are taken already lol.

My wife was the one who took the first move in our relationship. She took the chance and introduced herself to me. Admittedly, I was the one who asked her out first, but I would have never done that if she didn't make the first move. Sometimes us guys just can't see what's right in front of us without a little help.

Your plan sound great!!! That is so awesome that you want to ask him out! I am extremely shy too and I am always too scared to do things. put yourself out there do something that will make you happy. You will only regret it later if you sit back and just wait for things to happen. Please do it!! you seen really sweet and he seems very nice im sure he'll say yes!!!!!!
