Answer
Were we doing something wrong with out boss?
I work in an office with 12 other women. We are all single or divorced. Our boss Bill is a 29 year old great looking single guy. Besides being our boss Bill is a good friend to all of us and just a fun person to be around. Instead of not wanting to come to work, we all enjoy our job mostly because of Bill.
One day at a staff meeting one of us asked Bill, “how do I find someone rich to marry?” Bill said I don’t know but if you find out, please let me know how to do it. Another one of us said, “Does that mean you would marry me if I was rich”? Bill said “if your are rich, please answer 2 questions for me. “What is your ring size and where will we go on our honeymoon”. To which she replied “That is the first marriage proposal I have ever had”. We ALL had a GOOD LAUGH at that conversation.
Later talking to other employees about this, they told us we should not be talking to our boss like this. It shows disrespect to our boss. We thought we were just having fun.
What do you think? Were we doing something wrong with our boss?

1 Answer3 weeks agoWhy does my boss make me do useless things?
I work as a personal assistant to an extremely wealthy lady in Beverly Hills that spends tens of thousands of dollars a year on plastic surgery, luxury brand items, etc.
Sometimes she gives me completely useless counterintuitive tasks and I don’t understand why. For instance, most recently she has asked me to sell a used DVD on Craigslist that goes for only $3 brand new. I have told her this but she is convinced that I should sell it for $15. There are countless other useless tasks that she asks me to do which I don’t understand.
She owns a very successful company, is highly educated, so there is no way that she is so stupid to assign me these tasks.
Do you think this is some sort of manipulation tactic or something? Could she be trying to get me to quit even though she’s been doing this kind of stuff for over a year? There’s no way she’s so stupid to think that these tasks are useful and worth paying me for

Sometimes the colleagues give out food such as baked goods and other snacks to colleagues, so I'd like to the same in general. No reason at all. Could it create a negative impression??

2 Answers1 month agoWhy does HR need documentation of O.T., when they’re only paying me for my standard hours?
Due to COVID, I’m working four days instead of five, but am still getting paid for five days. Therefore, if I do any overtime, it’s deducted from my paid day off.
So, what’s the pony of HR wanting to know why I stayed late?
1 Answer2 months agoHow long after an employee pays $10 out of pocket, should he ask about the status of his reimbursement ?
Let’s say he was sent an e-mail asking if he has a ten-dollar bill, as the requester needs that amount to be mailed to client’s residence. Obviously, the requester is unable to do this herself, since she’s working from home, as well as 99% of the staff, including accounting department. Therefore, the employee who was in the office that day, mailed his ten dollars to client along with letter that was e-mailed to employee to seal in envelope with $10. After how much time should he ask about his $10 if he has not yet been paid back?

4 Answers2 months agoFirst time manager and struggling. Any tips?
I am a young-ish first time manager. Some are colleagues who were - prior to my promotion - the same position as I was, whereas others are entirely new.
The team I am in is a little chaotic at the moment and has both very busy and very quiet days.
I am struggling to adapt to the chaos and confidently lead a team. I find myself without guidance, trying to determine what I should and shouldn't be doing.
I am struggling with a lot of self doubt and anxiety. I constantly ruminate over my actions, trying to determine if my staff like me or not. I see others in similar positions to me exuded confidence and charisma. I am told by friends how easily they found managerial work, or how good they are.
I just feel overwhelmed with this sudden shift in responsibilities. Trying to quell my own concerns, and frustrations around the chaos, and support my team enough - but what's too much? I almost feel lost or alone.
I would appreciate any hints or tips you have to offer.
2 months agoShould I report a cab driver who not only was 15 minutes late picking me up, but was pulled over and ticketed for running a red light?
The driver made me late to work, and my job pays for the car service. So should I report the driver to management at my job. FYI, the other day while driving me to work, he briefly fell asleep at the wheel.
