What purpose does the rating of answers serve?
At present, it seems the rating only serves as another way of getting and giving points. Do you think it is going to be of a better use in future, probably in full version of Y! Answers?

Public feedback.
Post a question. Pick or allow the uses to pick the best answer by voting. Then it allows others to evaluate how good an answer it really was.
This is more important if the asker chooses a best answer (especially if it seems to fit the askers preconceived notions). The site is diversity and community.
