My English Bulldog keeps itching, can I give her Benedryl?
I recently was given a English Bulldog. She is very healthy looking but keeps itching on her back and back legs. The lady I got her from said you have to get a shot from the vet to stop it, but I was wondering if anyone knows a home or over-the-counter remedy (THEY HAVE USED) on their dog.?

Yes, for some relief for now the benadryl is a quick fix. You need to calculate the weight of your dog for the dosage. I would say start with 25 mgs. to be safe.I have a boxer and the vet said 50mgs 3 times a day is fine. She was sleeping a lot but it helped a lot.

First take the dog to a vet.
There are lots of reasons for itching and Benadryl may not solve it. It may be a nutritional or chemical deficiency, or an allergy to food.
I have used various over-the-counter preparations on my dogs for various reasons, but AFTER I know what is causing the problem.
Take you good Bully friend to the vet.

first, i would not give you dog benedry. Go to your vet she might have skin allegeries and they will give her medicine.
If you got a new carpet put in it could be that (i learned that when i volentered at a vet)
Source(s): my dog has skin allergies and volentered at a vet
