Is Yahoo Answers Collective Intellect in Action?

Have you learned anything new and interesting by reading responses and participating? Or are you simply wasting time to get to the end of your day?

Quite honestly, I have learning nothing from this site. Moist of the questions posted are little kids that have nothing better to do. So far, I have done nothing but answer redundant questions. I think this site supports the theory that our current students are porrly educated. The spelling seen is horrid and the grammar usage is even worse. God help our future...

Whether this is an example of a collective intellect depends on whether or not there are intelligent answers to the questions posed. Personally, I think that there are primarily two types of people that answer the questions, those that know what they are talking about and do help, and those that are wasting time and not thinking about what they are saying.

This would not be a fair form of expression if only one of those two types were allowed to answer, so it would seem that they have to let them all answer. If anything, it is an example of the poor state of education in the modern world when people do not seem to know how badly they communicate, be it spelling, grammar, or whatever. (Of course some of this may be the fact that this is an international forum, and not all respondants have the best English skills because it is a second language. If I were answering in my poor German skills, I would be surprised if people could understand me that well.)

I think there is a lot to learn from this forum, whether it is from the answers, the manner that they are answered, or from the questions themselves.

It is only a waste of time if you gain nothing from it.

Of course this is just my opinion.

Haven't been in here very long. Starting to question what the heck I AM doing here. I think it's just winding down before I finally go to bed.

Been a rough couple of months. This is brain-dead time. Think I am about to get tired of it though. Wish they would find a place for these kids to play and leave just a couple of places for adults.

Well it is very interesting to me, when i had just joined it, I never knew before i can answer questions ppl gave me, and that when i ask a serious question, ppl tend to get seroius. It is a great learning experience for me becuz of all of the great educations u can learn about. It is helpful and that more people should join this to discover how fun it is.

    ONE MORE THING!!!!!

The people should not LIMIT the amount of answers and questions to ask, becuz sometimes if they are able to help the person, they can't help becuz they used up all of their chances, and its pretty dumb, i am frustrated becuz no one answers any of my questions! and they are ez!

Beats the heck out of TV most of the time, and I can do other things at the same time instead of being totally absorbed in this.
