The main area of my home is one big great area. There is a loft where we have a gameroom upstairs and you can see from the livingroom/dining/kitchen downstairs area. Very high ceilings. I believe this main area is the most important because it allows our family to interact with each other while doing other things in the house. I could be in the livingroom sitting and I can look upstairs and watch my kids play pool or darts.

The house may be big, but the way it is set up doesnt separate the family. That is the most important "area" in my home.

As I am an eastern citizen and almost our women spending time in kitchen and living room, I have to say living room and kitchen. But may be in another culture you take another answers. And you can note to their sex. Female and male have different answers, too.
