I am considering being a Catholic Priest. Anyone got a basic idea of the things I will study in college?

How to convince people to keep giving money to an organization that has BILLIONS of dollars in assets, how to convince them that the organization STILL needs more of their money, how to cover up abuse (nuns verbally and physically abusing school children, priests sexually abusing children, etc), how to brainwash people so they hang on your every word, even when common sense tells them what you are saying is wrong, etc.

Definitely take a solid theology curriculum. If you have a chance to take some other classes, I would recommend it. Even though your concentration will be in Catholic teachings, you may benefit from some other classes, like some philosophy. My (non-expert) recommendation would be to explore the philosophies/religions of other cultures in addition to Christian ones. Of course, some Judaic studies will be important in understanding the roots of Catholicism, but even Hindu/Buddhist teachings might be interesting for someone intending to become a priest. Everybody should learn something about Islam in this day and age. Take some history classes to become more familiar with the society and time when Christ was born, how the Catholic Church spread (and the great schisms of the orthodox church), the significance of Protestantism, and the evolution of the Church's structure. Take some science and math (even physics) so that you can help people to reconcile Christianity with science.
Don't listen to these other idiots talking about "covering abuses" and sucking money out of people. We need priests who are faithful in God and true to His ways. Priests serve as a strong moral force; for some people, the only true moral fiber in their lives. Some of the best people in the world are priests. I applaud your decision to consider entering the Priesthood. I'd suggest you look into the various brotherhoods for information about their strengths and emphasis (Jesuits, Paulists, Franciscans, etc.)

I would imagine divinity, philosophy, church history, and other related subjects at a Catholic college would be most appropriate. You might also consider some lay subjects that are necessary for running an organization as large and as complex as the Catholic Church is (i.e., management, law, organizational behavior, fundraising, marketing, journalism and public relations). Congratulations on being closer to making one of life's most nettlesome and difficult decisions. Best of luck to you!

Depending on where you live, I would reccommend going Franciscan University of Stubenville Ohio. I am at a Catholic High school right now where many of my Very good Christianity teachers and Priets work.
On this site "http://www.franciscan.edu/Home2/Content/main.aspx%... it will tell you the courses
