Could a Christian singer make it in this world by just singing the conservative hymns written awhile back?
I love to sing but I'm conservative, and I don't think the new contemporary songs honor God the way they should. But would people listen to my music?

I agree with you :) nice to meet so many conservative people in here :) There are one contemporary hymn writer whom I really adore, Twila paris and I feel her songs really do honour God. But I agree that the conservative ones are really more biblical and the contemporary ones are based more on personal experience. You see God uses different methods to bring people to him. what he wants is a fully dedicated heart and so if you have that God can use you in whatever field you choose to work for him according to his will!! Trust in him and leave the work to him :)

Sure there are still a lot of people who like the old school so-to-speak, but if your in it for the MONEY which a lot of people are, then you may want to spice up the beat to your music for the hymns. I'm also a song writer, and I'm eclectic (don't know if it's spelled right) meaning I like all kinds of styles of music (christian mostly and some secular decent stuff) but you can always write words and music and publish it for someone else to sing and make royalties off of it! Whatever you do just don't get caught up in the money, remember your doing it for God and to lead others into his presence through songs.

If you stick to the hymns, you'll have a pretty small following- not many people, even Christians, listen to them very much for pleasure.
If you have the gift of music, and like to sing hymns, just do it. Making money is a totally different thing, and may not be part of His plan.

There are many Christians who are "conservative" as you say. Sing for them and I'm sure they will love your gifts. Popularity is not all it's cracked up to be. Sing for God as He inspires you. If that is hymns, sing hymns for those who love the old hymns.

I like the new songs, and i think they honor God in a new way.
If you just sang old hymns, I dont think your music would take off the way you want it to. But who knows? You may touch just a few lives, and then it would be worth it.

it relatively is God who forbids us from making a track songs that displease him. maximum of Christendom's hymns glorify the trinity, the pass, Mary worship, the concept each and all and sundry sturdy human beings circulate to heaven and that souls are immortal. those are all pagan teachings, so why might any authentic Christian sing approximately them or compliment them? answer is they does no longer, that's why Jehovah's Witnesses do no longer take part in making a track songs or celebrating trip journeys and traditions that are derived from pagan origins and the traditions of adult adult males and are not in keeping with Gods stimulated observe. basically as church participants do no longer sing our Kingdom songs because of the fact they do unlike employing Gods call and don't recognize that his Kingdom is a real government that regulations from heaven, for our very own reasons, we don't sing their songs. we don't think interior the trinity, hellfire or the immortality of the soul and we don't celebrate pagan trip journeys which additionally are glorified in Christendom's songs.

you could do like jars of clay did and put new music to old hymns, or write some new material, from the heart, which is God's favorite worship. a new song from your heart to Him. if He's your inspiration, you can write millions of songs on one aspect alone.

Many contemporaries have done this. Even Elvis for pity sake. However, I would sing and record as worship to Him. Whether you "make it" or not is up to Him--at least is should be.
