Do American Citizens feel that "gringo" is not an appropiate word to call them or is it ok?

Well I'm only half white half mexican. But I look white. I think gringo is a term we use on each other when we try to do something that's mexican.. like speak spanish, and we end up messing it up.. that's when we use gringo.. kinda like "wannabe".. it's not a negative term for us ^_^

I consider it a negative term when I see or hear it. I don't take offense, but it's likely to lower my opinion of the person using it.

It's not an uncommon thing for people to hear themselves called something and adopt that word for their own usage. Often this is a demonstration of their ignorance.

Hey- my family were called Gringos,probably for the obvious, we are Americans and white. We didnt take offense and I dont think that other people should either. CHILL!

what exactly does gringo mean,,,,,, is it use in a deragatory manner? or a simple descriptive manner.

the word '****' is literally foriegner, ie: amigook - american foriegner. now it can be used in a negitive way also,,,, i would say that it is in the meaning and delivery of the speaker toward the intended resipeant

nicely gosh dang Ding, and dang all of it besides..i exploit that note plenty dang it. Gorsh dang it..take a dang pill or sumtin..or dang more beneficial helpful than a pill have a good gosh dang roll in the hay dang all of it besides. Dang it.
