When the so called "leader of the free world" has been caught in so many lies that it is not even funny and more than half of the country is in denial, why would we expect to be any different.

P.S. If u want to compare to previous Presidents, Pick Nixon not Clinton. Bush's lies like Nixon's are for political gain ( to get ahead). Clinton's, while just as morally repugnant, were about a PERSONAL indiscretion.

I don't know how you'd find out what percentage of people lie to get ahead. I mean, you can't just have a survey and ask people "Do you lie?" But then, that's not really what your prospective employers wanted to know.

it's a trick question. If you tell them that everybody lies, then it means you lie and you think everyone else is like you. If you tell them nobody lies, then it means you lie so much that you're doing it right now.

What you want to do here is to convince them that you're not likely to lie to them, probably by giving an example of a time you could have gotten ahead by lying, and why you didn't.

Not that I would necessarily be able to come up with all of that on the spot if I were being interviewed for a job. But questions like this are also a way of testing how well you think on your feet.

    Hi there,

I think at times it is best not to reveal all negative information; sometimes it's best only to anwser the question that is asked, no more or no less. That dosen't mean that you don't want to point out some of your storng points in your past positions. In addition, at times you can even give yourself a slight raise in terms of how much you think that your worth, do a little research regarding your experiance and education in your field. Keep in mind that the people that are interviewing are experts in the field, so they will know when the salary matches the education and time in the position. In addition remember that alot of the people that interview are sharp and very good at reading facial expressions and body gestures. I hope this helps.

    Good Luck!!!

That is an interesting question we may never know the answer to. I guesstimate that more people lie to inflate their own egos than to get ahead, however I don't even know.

I was listening to a song by U2 the other day with lyrics that warn "a liar trusts no one", so hopefully you didn't tell the guy that everyone lies to get ahead.

"Lying" is not as easy to define as one might think. While there are blatant lies, other people will slant things based on their own interests. In fact, most people do that.

I would say that most people would lie to some extent to get ahead if they are never caught. Like most people speed. But there tends to be a threshold, which varies by person, that you don't cross.

I'm so honest it's disgusting. I can't lie to save my life. But society is apparantely going downhill at mach 3 so I would think a great number of people would lie to get ahead.

100% of the people who want to get ahead lies, unless that person has a strong determination & good will to get ahead he or she knows what to do without lying. People now are so naive they want the easy way to get ahead so the easiest way to do is to lie.

Reply with this, "Yes people do lie, but I'm not going to lie to you and tell you that I know the percentage of people who do."

Probably a lot of people lie. Not me, I hate being dishonest. I've heard of people giving examples of their work when someone else like a spouse actually created it.
