What is a reliable English translation of the Qur'an?

Translations can help in understanding the meaning but to know Quran in its entirety there is no way other than learning the Quran in Arabic. Quran is simple to learn compared to other Arabic literatures and it contains only 1800 root Arabic words.

"And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? " Quran 54: 17.

Arabic is one language, the problem with English translations of the holy Qur'an is that Arabic is an extremely complex language “from a grammatical point of view” and for that it can not be translated accurately to other languages.

The same problems, difficulties, etc which are challenges to translate old Hebrew & Greek to English also apply to Arabic.

Maulana Abdul Majid Daryabadi, a leader of Sunni Muslim opinion, editor of Such, Lucknow, India, 25 June 1943:

"This commentary of Maulana Muhammad Ali appeared in 1917, seventeen years before the commentary of Allama Abdullah Yusuf Ali.
