Have you read "Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies"?

I have read the reviews on Amazon.com, and would like the opinions of this community.

I read it and he's got some very interesting theories, and good science to back it up.

The big problem I had is his writing style is positively awful. It's dryly written, it's overly repetitive, and he drones on and on, taking his time to get to a point. I normally love to devour books on anthropology and history, but this one took me several months to read, and that's a longer time frame then it took me to read War and Peace.

I read the book last summer. I think Jared Diamond's ideas are intriguing and as plausible as any existing theory.

I just finished another book of his entitled "Why Is Sex Fun?" I find his writing style engaging and I really see how he reaches his conclusions. The questions he asks are ones I'll bet lots of us wonder, but wouldn't really know how to answer.
