Studying tips from other college students?

Attention College Students:

Let's share tips of the best ways to study for a test!

Some people cram, others read, others continuously study throughout the semester, others recopy thier own notes every day, what works for you?

I study the night before the test by writing out key terms and concepts.

I graduated college in May 2006, but I had the same problem with focusing during reading. What I found helpful is while reading, when I come across something important (i.e. a term, a date...any important bit), to write it down on a piece of paper. In that way, you are taking a small break from the reading, without really taking a break because youre writing down information. Thats just me though. Writing things down or typing out the most important facts helps me to remember things. Also, if youre left brained like me...split the reading into paragraphs or sections and actually outline them. Not only does this break up your reading a bit, but it helps you think and pick out the most important text to remember. Then, after doing all that, you can use those important things you wrote down to quick study, because you have all the important things written down. Hope that helps.

I get a professional editor and writing coach to look at all my work. It really, really helps. I use www.wordtechs.com. I also use flashcards, and outline notes. The night before tests, I sleep instead of study. I study the week-2weeks before the test.

I do the same thing you do.

I can't focus or concentrate if I study too early...i mean, it's like really boring and I always end up falling asleep. But it seems of greater importance at the last minute, so whatever I study tends to stick better.
