Please help! What can I use to seal the flapper bottom in the toilet tank with?
I keep going out and buying replacement kits just for the ring of wax or whatever it is but that is getting really expensive. If I have the landlord fix it they will increase my rent.

Many times if you take some liquid dish washing detergent on your finger tips and clean the flapper and the ring it will stop the leak.

The flapper can be replaced and is not hard to to. Here's another tip, do not use chlorinated tablets in your tank. They will warp the flapper and cause it to not seal.

those flappers are $1.99 at walmart. make sure there isn't tension on the cord that is holding it, and make sure the mating surface is smooth and clean to get a good seal.
