Why can't I find a great Live In Nanny for the children that is responsible, fun-loving and caring?

I live in Winder, Georgia. We have already been through three Nannies in the past four months! Arrgh! I have two little girls who can be a handful but are full of fun and love. We offer good pay and great working benefits. Any suggestions?

Update:

I am fairly new to the town so there are not many friends, we have exhausted church references, we have ran ads in all of the papers. People that get past the initial background check seem to be unstable and have bad reps. We have tried overlooking a past, and that came back to haunt us.

Update 2:

I thought being picky was a problem, so I tried lowering the bar. The problem with that was the nanny let the children, 4 and 6, play outside by themselves (WITHOUT ADULT SUPERVISION) and we live on a corner lot near a busy intersection. I had to go through the local police department and file a report on child neglect. Also, I have contacted local universities and such as well as local churches. I would like to thank you for your opinions they are all greatly appreciated. At this point I have decided God is trying to tell me something. He is trying to tell me to stay at home and give up my career. I think that is pretty much what I have come to. Thank you all, again your opinions and advice are well appreciated.

Dianna, I live in Winder, Ga as well. From my experience, the people who are responsible, fun-loving and caring are all married with their own children. I am a minister and truthfully have found very few single people whom I would be comfortable leaving my kids with, even within my church! You may, however, check through local churches in Winder and see if anyone may be available in such a position. I know of several married with Kids women in my congregation who would be great!

I wish I lived in Winder, Georgia! Hehe, try talking with friends who may have older relatives looking for work, or put an ad in the newspaper and do lots of interviews, you can request a backround check too...helps weed out the wierdos. I have tried for months unsucessfully to be a live out nanny, and I guess 2.5 kids and 3 years of daycare isn't enough experience. (I am 22 weeks pg, and I have all types of certs.) I am guessing you have tried relatives of your own, and if it is a small town, one of the nannies you previously had may have said things that are preventing you from finding someone capable and willing to watch your darling girls. You might be able to contact a local child care finder org. in your area for some leads. I hope this helps a little. Good Luck.

Chances are, if you are having problems finding a Nanny, it is because you are being to picky. You hold very high expectations for your two little angels and you probably want to find someone who will love and care for them as much as you do. Unfortunatly, no one will ever love and care for your children as much as their mother. Have you ever considered staying home with them yourself? Around two years ago, my husband and I had the same problems and my mother said to me the same thing I typed to you. I ended up giving up a fairly nice career for it, but I wouldn't give it up for the world. I have never been closer to my children. Sometimes you just need to go back to the basics...

Check out au pairs (search internet - you will find several agencies that deal in this). They are normally from another country and looking for work adn to share the culture of an American family with for about 1 year.
