What are your thoughts on this year's upcoming hurricane season?

According to officials, this year's hurricane season will be "less chaotic" but still "very busy".

They are predicting 17 nameded storms, including nine hurricanes, with a potential of five of them being "intense".

With hurricane season quickly approaching, what are your feelings on the kind of season we're going to have?

Answers from people who were effected by any of last year's hurricanes a plus...People from the midwest might want to sit this one out.

It appears that we are in another harsh weather cycle that started 3 years ago. I think the hurricanes may not be so bad but there will be more of them. And I do not think that this is due to anything mankind has done. Weather runs in cycles all one needs to do is look at ancient maps and see how the earth goes in and out of these period. Example, the Nile, and the Rio Grandes course.

Don't worry, just be prepared. When there is an alert don't sit around take action and protect yourself and your loved ones.

Last year, we were in the path of hurricane Rita. I couldn't get out of town because the freeways were a parking lot because the City of Houston panicked everybody. I was scared to death for my family's safety. It turned the night before and we didn't get the brunt of the storm. This year, I saw the prediction chart and I am very concerned. I will not take any chances and will leave a week ahead of time if it even looks like we are going to get hit.

What is going on with all these hurricanes???

I have lived in Fl most of my life. And up until recent yrs, the main hurricane on people's minds were Andrew in 1991. Every year there would be about one major hurricane per season, now, raising children, my kids can name more hurricanes than I ever could at their age.

I think it will be a bad season as well from the data I have seen. I would say if you lived in a hurricane area you would be irresponcible not to already have a stockpile of supplies and evacuation plan.

However, once you are prepared, fear is no way to live. I would also look to relocating to a non-effected zone if I had children.

I'm worried about it. Last year, they had similar predictions, and look at what happened! Originally from the midwest, but now living in Florida, I am more nervous than I can even relate. >.<"
