Do we have to have DJ?
We're getting married @ my parent's farm, and having the reception in a tent. Do you think we have to have a dj, or could we just have a decent stereo system w/ cds?
Know any budget priced ones in Central Ohio? :)

Download some DJ software like VirtualDJ or SAM Broadcaster, or make a playlist in Windows Media Player.
Load up your playlist.
Hook the computer up to the stereo system (hopefully you have a laptop).
You shouldn't need a DJ if you can connect the stereo system to a computer with the songs you want already loaded in it :-)

You could make mixed Cd's ahead of time and just let them play. If you had some cousin's or other young family members that might be interested you could have them DJ they would probably appreciate the chance to be part of the day.

You can do either, but I would choose a DJ. You may be able to find an inexpensive one. Otherwise, if you have a stereo, you will need someone to man the music anyways.

Get a DJ, they make all of the announcements, like announcing the bride and groom. Plus, who is going to keep the music going? You don't want to worry about that. I live in Florida and my DJ was reasonably priced.

DJ's are good because they keep everything organized. They announce the cutting of the cake, special dances, etc.
An alternative to a DJ is to hire a live band, or a string quartet. I had both a string quartet and a DJ at my wedding, and it worked well.

Have a dj. They'll do all the work and you won't have to worry about anything other than handing him a list of songs to play.

It's up to you but I really don't think you need a DJ for the event to be fun and romantic

You don't need a DJ if you're not planning to dance and just want some background music.

well, if you want to make the wedding a low key one, do the stereo. but if you want to add some pizzazz, get the dj. he or she might have different music u dont have.
