How do you neatly fold a fitted sheet?

These are so frustrating to me. I like to keep a nice, organized closet for linens and things of that sort, but I have not yet mastered how to fold a fitted sheet. The flat sheets are easy but that darn elastic gives me troubles in the fitted ones!

I couldn't do it either until I saw this.

    Now I can do it!

  • OK. It's gonna be really hard trying to explain this without showing you. since this is your 1st time, follow these instructions

    1. Lay the fitted sheet down open side up

    2. Grab the corners of the sheet. NOT THE ELASTIC. Grab the rounded corners of the sheet leaving the elastic grips inside the fold.

If you do this the right way your fittrd sheet will fold just like the flat one.

  • turn it inside out, so that the seams that run down the corners of the matteress are outside. Flop the elastic to toward the middle. This will give you 4 straight sides to work with. Fold like you would a normal sheet, using the ends of the seams as the corners and making sure to not fold the elastic to the outside.

Step 1) Tuck each of the elasticized corners inside one another. This will leave you with sheet with two elasticized sides (since they're doubled up) and two "Straight" sides (also doubled up).

Step 2) Fold one elasticized side straight into sheet. This leaves one elasticized side and three straight sides.

Step 3) fold second elasticized side in to sheet, leaving four straight sides.

    Step 4) fold in half.

Step 5) Fold in half again.

This should leave you with a rectangular folded sheet that is roughly 1 foot by 6-8 inches if you are using a queen sized sheet. For twin sheets you normally can leave out step 5. On California King sheets, you may have to fold in half one more time.

Fold/lay the elastic corners down all on one side. Then the corners to each other (length or width), and fold normally. It is a little more bulky than normal but should fold nicely and lay flat

lay out the sheet and half fold

fold corners on one end into each other making sure you also fold the sides in,repeat for the next side

fold this into thirds length wise

    then fold up into quarters

it will be flatten once you place the top sheet and pillowcases on top

I tie my sets together then put them in the linen closet

it keeps them together and they stack easier

I do the same for towel sets

When you fold them, tuck all four corners into 1 of the corner pockets. This will give all four corners a uniform shape & you can then fold it like a regular flat sheet.

Lord YES! I have the same problem. Everything in my closet is neatly folded except the fitted sheets which are basically wadded up and stuck on the shelf. Thanks for asking a great question!

Put your hands into separate pockets of the sheet. Put your hands together and flip one pocket over the other. do the same to the other end. Now you have only two pockets. Do the same thing. Put your hands in the separate pockets, put your hands together, and flip the pocket over. Then just fold neatly. Good luck. Its sooo much easier if some one shows you!

fold each corner into each other, then fold it in half, fold it once again until you have it folded where you can successfully put it away neatly into your closet
