The Golden Gate bridge goes up to the Sausalito/Tiburon area. Technically, I suppose you can go up and around the bay until you reach Berkeley, but it would take a while. I don't think you'd be able to ride a bike across the Bay Bridge (which connects Oakland to San Francisco). You could ride around in San Francisco, and then take the BART to Berkeley (they allow you to take your bike on the BART).

If you don't mind going up to Napa. You can ride on the GGB, but then you won't be able to ride on the Richmond bridge to get back over towards Berkeley.
