Every one here has a dramatic opinion about the Marine Corps. Just because your a Marine Wife, Marine's brother or anything else doesn't buy you the certificate to know what it feels like. It gives you an insight, a companion's look at things. I am a Marine and a Marine Wife. I have been in long enough to know my buddy didn't get her leg severed by an IED just for colleg money. She believed in her country, the safety of her family, she believed in herself. If you believe in yourself enough to join, all the Marine Corps can do is make that stronger. If you live afraid of death then breathe on as a coward. As for me and my brothers we will live with no regrets, live history that our children will study in school, and know that we were the ones there.

My answer: Don't do it. Since the minimum Asvab score is somewhere hovering around -100 (yeah, that about right) something tells me it's probably not the safest way to get by. Or haven't you heard that violent felons, drug dealers and rapists are now all allowed to enlist as well?
Seriously, they're desperate. Just put a little thought into who you'll be sharing a sleeping hole with before making any rash descissions.

The asvab score doesnt really matter, as long as you pass the test you can get it, you might end up in a shitty job like supply or being a grunt doesnt Matter cause you are willing to take the step to EARNING the Title U.S. Marines. If you think you can handle a 13 week boot camp that will test you physically and mentally, if your willing to give up everything in your life for a brotherhood of Men, and take that leap then welcome to the club, if your some pussy looking for a paycheck, looking for pussy, or just wanna join for something to do then go join the airforce, cause you dont belong in my Corps. Marine is something earned not given my friend, if your willing to wear that Eagle Globe and Anchor over your chest and wear it with pride then welcome to the club, otherwise dont even think about it.

My advise is this and I've known several guys who joined... It is never what you expect, it's always MUCH tougher. You need to be in exceptional physical condition BEFORE boot camp and be sure you are a great long distance runner and swimmer. People die all the time in boot camp, much more than the few that are reported. They tear you apart and then put you back together mentally. Also, no one I have ever known, including several close friends and my brother, ever ended up getting to do the job they were promised before they signed. Once you sign, they own you and can do whatever they want with you. Practice eating all your meals in under 2 minutes and eat EVERYTHING, they will cram it down your throat till you puke if you don't. NEVER break attention until given proper permission no matter what happens. Good luck. I have extreme respect for all our service men and women! <><

The only advice I can give you is to make sure you know what you are getting yourself into. The military--especially the marines--is not for everyone.

Good luck to you. It isn't for cupcakes. I was on the road to enlisting, but they wanted me to sign the papers in the Sargent Major's hotel room. That was that. I bolted.

Repeat this phrase one thousand times :
Death is final and I am ready to die.
Death is final and I am ready to kill.
There's nothing glamorous about killing or being killed. You don't get a second chance to live, once you're dead. Those you kill don't get a second chance to live, once you've killed them.
There's no do-over in enlisting. Once you sign, your in. You better be damn sure, boy.
The score only matters if you're ready to die.

Ask yourself if you are ready to kill other human beings because your government tells you to.
