Go to Bed Bath and Beyond and buy the avocado slicer/corer................ Its about ten bucks! There is a gadget for everything there...lol

Cut the avacado in half; stick the point of a knife into the pit and kinda twist. The pit will come right out.

Cut the avacado in half and whack the blade into the the pit (like you're chopping it in half - don't worry, you don't have to hit it hard, just enough to embed the knife blade into the pit). Hold the avacado half and twist the knife - the pit will pop out.

after you've halved the avocado, try placing the knife in the pit lenghtwise. like you're going to chop it, but do it fast so the knife sticks in the pit, then twist and pull out

i've got sprouted avocado pits by using putting them in damp soil indoors. concern is, we are residing at approximately 40 six levels south in NZ, and that's too chilly outdoors to strengthen them. you pick subtropical temperatures.
