it was written by George Orwell. good book for anyone who wants to read something politcaly frightning.

I've read the book twice. Once in 1997/1998 and once again last fall.....it seems like it's coming more and more likely. It's possible...but as it's only a book, so the dramatic bits can't be accounted for in reality.

It certainly wont in 1984... but... Orwell was concerned with the total and unrestricted power of the state. Fora while, it seemed humanity had ducked that bullet, but there is a pendular movement to the way we move through time. Right now, it seems we are going back in that direction. Hopefully, the pendulum will eventually slow down and return.

it was almost in the USSR at that time - Orwell used to like communism, but after the trip there had a shock and wrote this book. and in some of its former republics the same **** is still going on, believe me.
