when CocaCola was originally put on the market it was advertised as a tonic that would refresh anyone after a difficult day.  It was later removed from the receipe when it was shown to have adverse effects on consumers.

Cocaine was in the orignal formula.
Here's what a lot of people don't know, though:
Back in the 80's, they came out with "New Coke", and changed the formula, and people HATED it, and demanded they bring back "Coke Classic". Coke said, "Sure, here ya go!" but they never did.
Original Coke included PURE CANE SUGAR as an ingredient.
It hasn't been in there since. They never returned to the original formula (even minus cocaine). Coke lied, and scammed the consumers, and the consumers bought it.
