Any suggestions for a good mid-range smallbore 3p match rifle?

Can't afford a $3-4000. Maybe a lesser Anschutz or FWB.

Anything to avoid?

Also looking at .177 CA.

I used a nice old Winchester Model 52 for 5 years. It was built in the 1950's or 1960's and went to high school every day on the school bus. The market is about $400 US. http://johno.myiglou.com/winchester.htm

Make sure to invest in a hand stop, loop sling, and a good shooting jacket. You will be set for years.

You will be amazed at how much a good coat will help:

Heavens! Dont forget a glove! I used a garden glove, but a padded target shooter's glove is great!

Here are some photos of my friends at the range:

Most of the rifles in the pictures are 30 to 50 years old. Larry has the same one that he used when he was a state champ in high school. His son is out of high school now, and Larry is shooting again. In the first photo, Tim, Lower right, is holding an old Model 52. I am holding John's MG34 in one of the pictures.

Keep your muzzle in a safe direction!
