Who's responsible???

I work in a nursing home. One of the girls that works on my unit tested positive for TB. Since it is so contagious should the nursing home be testing all of us from the unit? Should they pay for the medical care for those testing positive?

Update:

We are tested every year. What happens to those who are not due to be tested until November?

Yes everyone that she has came in contact with needs tested. Yes the company should have to pay for it.

Call your Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in your area on what to do.

Source(s): Your co-worker needs a chest x-ray to be positive if she has it or not. Some people react to the Tuberculin tests.

This is why all of the nurse's are going on strike in New York City. The city is not paying enough for the nurse to be sick from their job. When taking care of patients they all should be tested that way it won't spread trough out the hospital. And what about spreading it to the babies that are in the hospital.

Yes everyone should be tested.. IF more than one person test positive then yes they should pay but if not then how can it be proven that the person was infected at work

I believe the CDC requires employees to be tested at the time of hiring, annually, and in the event of exposure. Call your local health dept to find out the laws for your area.

They would be wise to get everyone tested. However, any medical treatment needed is up to you.

No. It doesn't mean she has TB. It means that at some point, she was exposed to TB. She could have been exposed at work or elsewhere.

I feel they should. Fight them for it. There should be a board of directors contact them.
