Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

For the brainy ones...don't know if anybody will get the answer...

    First, we postulate that you cannot get very far in this life (let alone get Best Answer) simply by copying and pasting someone else's work. Then, we can plunge into our own whack-azz theory.

    In Yahoo Answers, you have the non-believers saying (to use th term politely) that Hell does not exist. Which causes the believers to say that yes it does and you better believe it bless your sorry soul, cause it was scribbled down in a book a few thousand years ago. Which causes the non-believers to say what planet did you come from, which causes another flood of bible quotes and blessings.

    So a lot of heat energy goes into the battle over Hell, but at the end, nothing comes out of it, especially when the Yahoo god deletes the arguments. So in YA, hell is Endothermic.

    First, We postulate that if souls exist, then they must have some mass. If they do, then a mole of souls can also have a mass. So, at what rate are souls moving into hell and at what rate are souls leaving? I think we can safely assume that once a soul gets to hell, it will not leave.

    Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for souls entering hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, then you will go to hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all people and souls go to hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in hell to increase exponentially.

    Now, we look at the rate of change in volume in hell. Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in hell to stay the same, the ratio of the mass of souls and volume needs to stay constant. Two options exist:

    If hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter hell, then the temperature and pressure in hell will increase until all hell breaks loose.

    If hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until hell freezes over.

    So which is it? If we accept the quote given to me by Amy Greene during Freshman year, "that it will be a cold night in hell before I sleep with you" and take into account the fact that I still have NOT succeeded in having sexual relations with her, then Option 2 cannot be true...Thus, hell is exothermic.

    Hell is inside our hearts and minds. We as humans have the power to turn this world into either a paradise or a terrible nightmare, if we could only sort our our differences and put our knowledge to the benefit of us all.

    saw this on a test once and the prof gave us the answer, something about how its exothermic but since the guy who answered finally got some girl to kiss him who had said hell would have to freeze over first and since she kissed him it was endothermic

    It's what every you believe it will be. I think that people who die and believe they have sinned will create a type of "hell" in their minds whether it be the storybook bible version or the Dante's inferno version or the version that they've seen in a dream or in a movie.

    Exothermic = (of a chemical reaction or compound) occurring or formed with the liberation of heat

    Endothermic = (of a chemical reaction or compound) occurring or formed with absorption of heat
