Why is it that Yahoo puts ****'s on "obscene" words commonly used?

It seems riduculous and outdated when everyone uses these words almost daily. Seems almost Victorian! And who selects those words to be deleted? Opinions?

    Because there are rules for Yahoo Q&A and cussing is not allowed here. Also there are lot of young people coming to Yahoo Q&A. If you were a parent would you want your child seeing stuff like that?!?

    the thread of law suits by fanatical christians could be one thing. The fact that the USA has, in it's duality, a pretty victorian view on sex etc is another thing.

    Perhaps because there are CHILDREN who see this site? If you can't find a better way than explicatives to express yourself, maybe you should work on expanding your vocabulary.
