Click Start, then Run and type in msconfig. Go to the startup tab and uncheck any programs you don't want opening at startup. Click OK, then restart. That's it. Hope this helps.

It depends on the program itself. Sometimes you may be able to stop the program in the system tray but right-click the icon in the tray and locate Exit, Quit, or sometimes there'll be an Option.

Another alternative is, for instance in Windows XP, you can go to Start, Programs, Startup, delete the icon. By doing so... from now on that you turn on your computer, the program will not startup, therefore should not be in the system tray.

Last but not least, use MSCONFIG. Here's a website that'll help you. http://netsquirrel.com/msconfig/

    Good luck.

First you can see if they are in the start up. Go to start programs startup. If they are you can delete them or at least move them out of there.

The other place most start is in the Registry. Editing the registry can cause problems, so you need to know what you are doing. You can get there by typing Regedit using the run box line from the start button. The other part is too complicated to explain.

you can right click on the icon and choose the option to exit. or you can go to start then run the type msconfig then go to the startup tab and put checks in the boxes of the programs that you dont want to start up when you turn your pc on.
