I'm killing points but finally getting good answers, Heres another question?

Jesus was the one who said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one gets to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

Now Christians use this line to say that this line says that beleiving in Jesus is the only way to heaven.

Now I ask a blasphemous question....

Could this line also be interpreted as "live as I live"

"I am the way"= The path, in China the way or Tao is a way of living (Jesus did study in the far east in his mid 20's)

"The Truth"= An Honest Life

"The Life" = Living as I have lived

"No one gets to the Father except through me." = In the origional text in Hebrew there is a second translation to the text: "No one sees the Father, except through my eyes"

This alternate translation and even the origional could represent a life like Christ, not following him to the end, but to live the peaceful life as he would, to help other in need.

Think how many have done bad, but still claim Jesus, how many can truely say they live a life like Christ?

Update:

You point out small thing, but you still judge, remember that.

Update 2:

I don't see it as all that blasphemous. You got 'the Way' absolutely right. Following the Path that He gives us is exactly what He wants of us. While an 'honest life' is surely a part of the Truth, it also means that He contains all Truth. There's a lot more here than you are seeing. Again, 'the Life', does mean live this way, but more, He is the true Source of life, both temporal and eternal.

Think bigger, but you're on the right track.

In a way, you're right. Not interpreting the text (because in other passages Jesus claims to be the only way), but in your view that those who claim Jesus are those that really claim Him by their life. For instance, I John 1:5: "This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth."

A deceiving tactic from Satan is to get Christians to believe that the way they live doesn't matter, when that's what Christ came to save us from--our old lives.

If a person hears about Jesus, and that He died in our place so that we might be free from our sins, and all they need to do is accept His sacrafice, but they decide they would rather earn their way to heaven instead because they are good enough on their own, then those people will not get to heaven because they rejected Christ.

But if anyone (now or in the past) has never heard of Jesus and of His salvation, if they live a good life according to what they know, then they will make it to heaven also.

An interesting perspective, but the end result is the same.

As Christians we are called to pattern our lives after that of Christ. We are to try to live as he lived.

So when you ask if Jesus was saying live as I live, the simple truth is yes.

And what evidence do you have for Him studying in the far east?

As for the question, it's quite simple:

I am the way=He is the way

The Truth=The Truth, He is NOT a lie

    The Life=spirtual life

You mean use the character of Jesus as an example for your own life? I believe there are judgmental people who could benefit from doing just that :-)

I don't know the answer, I just know that I live the best I can and I tray everyday to be a good person and make myself satisfied and happy, I live with joy and honesty and I thank God for giving me all I have. And thanks for the points.

It can only be interpreted to say what He meant rather than what arguemens we can raise up here and there. I honestly believe it means what He say without currying it up.

Don't worry about them... worry about YOU instead. Don't see the splinter in their eyes, but remove the 2x4 lumber from yours first. THAT is the lesson, too.

    Peace be with you!

Yes, that is a more tolerant alternative interpretation.
