Yahoo Answers Violations?
"Besides the fact that I was unable to find that violation in the community guidelines, I also don't see how my question was in violation of it. If I wanted to chat, I would use yahoo messenger, aim, msn messenger, windows messenger, icq, ect. If I was looking for private correspondence, I would not do it in a public place such as this.

Subject: Violation Notice Email
Hello David La Pierre (david_lapierre@sbcglobal.net)
You have posted content to Yahoo! Answers in violation of our Community Guidelines. As a result, your content has been deleted.
Question: Anybody here from Santa Rosa?
Details of Violation: Just wondering...
Reason of Violation: Chatting or Private Correspondence : "
I feel I was not in violation, please tell me if you agree or disagree
I am aware that I gave out my email address sunshine_today, you can easily find it in my profile.
I am aware that I gave out my email address sunshine_today, you can easily find it in my profile.
P.S. I am not trying to say anything against yahoo at the moment, just tryint to correct a potential mistake. I am greatful that they have provided this site, and am only trying to clear something up. Thanks for the answers everyone.
MsKnowItAll, I do not see how my question is included in that catagory, I was in no way attempting to socialize. I was interested if anybody from where I lived used this website.
If you are basing this on the fact the I placed my question in the "Friends" section, my reasoning is simple, I believed that people there would be more likely to be honest in answering a question like this.
For molly, I can better see you reasoning. Today a 9 year old girl (supposedly) asked me to be her boyfriend... That was a bit awkward...
If that was their worry though, I would have expected them to say that.
Thanks for the answer.

There are a lot of kids on here.
They just want to protect their site from child molesters, looking for kids to lure and also keep people from turning it into a tool to find others to have online sex with.
They just want to keep a clean site so we can have access to more intelligent questions and answers.
They didn't do it to you because they thought you were out of line. Don't take it personally.
They have to have these rules and we all have to abide by them.
They are quite aware that having something we write in, get deleted, can be aggrivating. A lot of people's feelings get hurt because they take it personally.
Believe me. They meant you no harm.
Their just doing the best they can to make Yahoo Answers a clean website to visit.
It's happened to almost everybody, that's bean on here for awhile.
Chear up, cutie. You're not alone.

Are you aware you just cut and pasted your email address?
Ah, okay...so you know.
Anyway, a question like yours "anybody here from Santa Rosa" doesn't really have a right or wrong answer. It's considered chatting under Yahoo. I think anything that isn't a true question that has a definate answer is considered chatting. How do you pick a "best answer" for such a question?
I don't think you were singled out, there are all kinds of posts flying around about violation notices.

No mistake here. The question you asked does nothing to contribute to the knowledge based, searchable database, that Yahoo Answers was designed to be.
NO CHATTING OR PERSONAL COMMUNICATIONS: You may meet friends or other interesting people on Yahoo! Answers with whom you'd like to engage in personal correspondence. If so, please use the chat option on your profile page, rather than use Yahoo! Answers itself. Questions that are chatty, or attempts to engage others in personal communications, will be removed. Some examples of questions that do not comply with the Yahoo! Answers Community Guidelines are below. These are just a few examples, and we reserve the right to change, remove, or add to the list at any time, without notice:
How are you?
Anyone want to chat?
What's your name?
How old are you?
Do you like my avatar?
What time is it?
Who here likes steak?
How many points do you have?
Who likes Britney Spears?

I feel that you should get a job with yahoo making these decisions or get your own answers site and you can make the decisions. The one who provides the forum has the power. You have submitted yourself to that power by using what they provided. you can complain but life is not fair.

I agree with you David. I got a similar violation notice for asking people to share funny jokes with me. I hate getting in trouble, don't you? Goodnight.

You might not agree, but that is considered chatting.
There have been many questions deleted for this lately.
