COPS on television?
Why is it that cops beat the hell out of people, and slam them on the ground. Then when they put them in the car, they tell them to watch their heads?

If people resist arrest, police can use any means necessary (a reasonable use of force) to subdue the individual. On the television show, COPS, suspects are generally resisting arrest. Police are obligated once arrested to make sure that the suspect safetly makes it to booking, etc.

Well let me ask you this. If you were on TV and being video taped and you had just chased a child murderer for 50 miles at speeds of over 110 miles an hour almost running over god knows how many innocent people in the process when the chase came to an end would you just walk up to the Child Murderer holding a gun on you and say, "Pardon me kind sir would you mind letting me take you into custody because you have been a naughty boy?" I don't think so. you would screw your gun into his ear and jerk a knot in his asp for making you have to do all that in the first place. Then as the adrenaline starts to come down and you help this moron you just arrested up off of the ground and you then remember the cameras you become Johnnie Law and gingerly walk him back to a squad car and hold his little noggin down so he does not bump his widdle head when he gets in the big bad police mans car and is taken to see the nice gentleman that wears the pretty black robe.

The bad guy does not just stop and say I am sorry please hand cuff me, for some reason they run, fight and don't give up.
Plus do remember that alot of COPS on TV is re-shoot and/or staged. I was at the scene of one I know of and beleive it, it did not happen like they showed it on TV
Ever wonder why the cops are not beeped for cursing or even the bad guys hardly ever curse ?

Because it is permissible to use force when restraining or arresting a subject, but not after the subjects is in custody.
