Upon the news of Abu Zarqawi's death, why is that some liberals sound more pessimistic & sad as if they would

Liberalism is a disease, a plague. It, not Islamic fundamentalism, will be the downfall of western society. Liberals are blinded by their hatred of a government that is heroicly trying its best to fight an evil greater than the world has seen since Hitler. Liberals are so blinded by hatred that anything that happens in the world is George Bush's fault. Islam is a religious cult based on murder, torture, rape of women and children. They demonstrate what cowards they are by beheading of innocent civilians who are bound with their hands tied behind their back. This is a disease that must be stopped. Their goal is to destroy western civilisation. Liberals are their no. 1 assistants in the cause. When will blind people see? Probably never when they've got such illustrious talent leading them like the Kennedys, the Clintons, Kerry, Gore, and the hollywood scum like Michael Moore.

Perhaps not all of those points are true, but when you have lost trust in your government it is hard to sift through to find what is right.

I think what is unsettling to many is that this news will occupy our news cycle and make people feel better about the war, but in fact nothing much will change. Maybe the insurgency will peter out now, but I doubt it. Catching Saddam made no difference in the war, though it too, made people feel better about an enterprise that on the whole has been ill-conceived and terribly managed.

Good that he's dead, but unfortunately it doesn't change a damn thing as far as the war goes. History shows that taking out one man does little if anything in the end (See the killing of Uday and Qusay, and the capture of Saddam).

Quick trivia how many of you know that Ho Chi Minh died in September 1969? That certainly changed things in Vietnam now didn't it.

Oh well, at least justice has been served, though I would have preferred if they had captured him then executed him. Who knows maybe they could've gotten some much needed intelligence out of him before painfully disposing of him.

I believe in the death penalty, but Bush is still a fool. His war is illegal. "Terrorism" as a concept will never be defeated (it has existed throughout history). There really are many more people who would be glad to take the deceased's place and kill Americans. And people like you, who assert that Americans who oppose the "war" in Iraq wish for American troops to die to prove their point, are fuc**ing cowards who hide behind shrill rhetoric. Basically, you want your illegal little "war" and for everybody to like it too. Ain't gonna happen, moron.

It's simple reasoning. With the news of his death, it is undeniably a momentary achievement of our honorable military forces. And it will forever take away their ability to throw the non-capture or kill of Zarqawi into the pot of their perceived failures. It has deflated their balloon. But certainly they must have known this day was coming, just as they must realize Bin Laden will eventually meet the same fate. Patience is a virtue, so it's said.

ill answer your question with a question... why do some conservatives post dumb questions while insinuating that liberals want to see our soldiers die? hey, here's another one.. why are our soldiers dying in iraq? to liberate the country from a cruel dictator? to fight terrorism? to find the wmd's? well there are numerous dictators around the world considered much more brutal and insidious than hussein.. and even the bush admin has stated more than once that there is no link between iraq and al queda. and, of course, there are no wmd's in iraq. so tell me.. why are we dying AND killing over there?

Does it improve my opinion of Bush? No. Am I glad he's dead? Yep. Do I think this will dramatically change the direction of the war? No. Am I glad that he's dead? YEP!
