It's a big decision - there are a lot of risks but also a lot of benefits. The FDA has a great website that reviews a lot of the risks and provides checklists to help in making decisions about Lasik: http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/LASIK/reduce.htm. My husband had corrective vision surgery, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions he's made. It really boosted his self-confidence to get rid of his super-thick glasses. However, he does have some problems with night driving now. I think it's a matter of what level of risk you feel comfortable with to get the rewards you want. Just be sure you get as much information as possible beforehand and find a very reputable and experienced doctor to perform the surgery!

Lasik Surgery is very safe and cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges kall types of surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as all types of surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your eye surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.hope this helps.

I had it done and I love it. It hurt like a bi*tch for a week!!! but it was well worth it. It's a lot safer than it used to be but still get a medically certified doctor to do it.
