My kitten has an infection in her eyes?
Sarah is 6month old and developed a white spot on her pupil in her right eye. Then it started weeping and is red. sometimes she can't open it. We thought at first it got polked from playing with the ferrit. But now the other eye is doing the same thing. We keep trying to wipe her eyes. And some days are better than others. But I don't know what to do. I don't have money for a vet right now. And I'm really worried about this. Does anyone know how I can keep her eyes clean or better until I can get her to a vet.
If I could take her to a vet I would. But until the end of the month I don't have a dime.
I'm disabled and rely on a small inclome each month

Get her to the vet right away...after she is diagnosed & given her medication (which is obviously needed) tell them you need to make a payment plan as you saw this as an emergency & she obviously needed to be looked at a.s.a.p.! You can do this prior to going to the vet if you call, work out some arrangement, and get her in right away.
I'll help if I can.

Source(s): p.s. Yes Kate is probably right if there is a scratch /infection in eye (triple antibiotic ointment) is always good to have around your house. Pick up some when you go to vet. - noseygirlLv 52 decades ago
Try pouring slightly warm canned milk in the eye with a dropper. If after doing this a couple times a day for a few days does not help you can try to use a saline salution like the ones for people with contacts and rinse the eye. The cat may have gotten cut or something poked it in the eye. The milk would help if it is what they call "Cold". If these don't help you really need to take it to a vet or the aspca and drop it off. They will take care of it or maybe if you explain to them your financial problem they can let you make payments.

For the time being, get a wet , warm cloth and wipe her eyes. Wipe away from the inside corner and out. Inside to the outside. Keep cleaning her eyes at least 4 or 5 times a day and after a couple of days if it isn't clearing up at all, take her in. This will buy you some time to get some cash together.

this advice comes from my grandmother, who has taken in any cat i ever brought home and, as far as that goes, any cat any other child wanted but wasn't allowed to have at their place, so here goes: use warm tea bags to clean out the eyes, one for each, just like you were brewing a cup of tea, let the bag cool a bit, wipe all the matter away from the eyes and then get another 'clean' tea bag with run under cooler water and squeeze the excess from the tea bag into the cat's eyes. i have witness this work very well and avoid the vet entirely and i also would recommend , if it not work after three days to still make that vet appointment.good luck, our animals are priceless!!

I know you aren't in the best financial situation but I would recommend getting her to a vet ASAP. Eye problems can get much worse very, very quickly. If she has a scratch on her cornea and is not treated soon it can get very bad.. up to the point where she could lose her eye. Not to mention, the worse it is, the more it can potentially cost you.
Some vets will allow you a payment plan or also you could apply for Care Credit (or something equvilent to that in your area)
If your vet will allow it, maybe you can tell them of your situation and ask if you can pick up some TAO (triple antibiotic ointment) until you can get enough money to bring her in.
Good luck.

Try wiping them gently with a moistened kleenex when her eyes are closed. You need to take her to the vet asap because an untreated eye infection can cause permanent damage to her eyes. The vet should give you ointment to put in the cat's eyes. Make sure you wash your hands afterwards or you could end up with an eye infection also, like I did.

I think you better find the money for a veterinarian. I can't help you without an exam to see what's actually happening and prescribe drugs. One thing I do know is I have seen my share of kittens lose eyes without immediate and thorough veterinary care.

Call a humane society and ask them if there is any way to get help. I understand people love pets, but without financial resources to take care of them is unfair to the pet.
