I'd recommend piercing the blister with a sterile needle.
Some physicians advise leaving the blister intact, allowing the epidermal layers of the floor to mature and become less sensitive to infection. Others advise piercing the roof with a sterile needle and gently expressing the fluid inside. This has two benefits: it reduces the pain and it allows the roof to connect with the base, where it may readhere for a short period, thereby reducing the pain and helping prevent infection.
Hope this helps.

you may just do nothing and let the blood blisters and pain go away as the body heals itself. Some people advocate draining the blisters, but it is not necessary and subjects the individual to an open sore that could lead to infection. If they are very painful, soak the feet in Epsom Salts and fairly warm water. Wear Socks until the pain is reduced to the point that shoes are comfortable.

if the blisters are big you can poke sterile needle near edge of blister to release most of blood, swab with peroxide or rubbing alcohol, then cover with band-aid.
if blister refills repeat procedure daily until it heals

Buy moleskin. It's made by Dr. Scholls. You cut it to go around the blisters so his shoes won't rub them.

I would leave them alone. I had one once and my father said to leave it alone and to not pop it. Leave them alone so you dont risk your son of an infenction. They will go down in a day or two and he should be fine.

wash his feet and apply antibiotic ointment on his feet. Then put socks on his feet so the ointment will stay on his feet.

Either leave them alone and they will go away, or you can pop them and they will go away. Its not a big deal...
