No, my Japanese friend travels to both Iran and the US on business on a regular basis and has no problems that way. Some countries such as Israel will give you a visa on a seperate piece of paper to avoid such issues, but Iran should be OK>

To be honest, they probably won't even look to see it. If they do, they probably won't say anything. At worst, they'll ask you to step inside & have a few questions to establish what the visit was about. Should be no more than five minutes. They won't refuse you entery unless they reaally think there is something funny going on. If you're really concerned call your local US consulate/embassy & discuss the matter. They can put a note in the customs computer that will appear for the agent that scans your passport when you arrive. You'll have to see them for your visa anyway.

Don't take the page out, it can invalidate the passport, I think. You shouldn't have any trouble, but they do require a lot of crap to get a visa, like fingerprints, etc.

If you have an Israeli stamp in your passport, you will have trouble getting into some Arabic Countries.

DUE TO 9/11 THEY MAY ASK YOU BRIEF QUESTIONS ABOUT WHY YOU WERE IN THAT COUNTRY. JUST ANSWER HONESTLY AND GIVE A REFRENCE, YOU WILL BE FINE. AS LONG AS YOU DON'T HAVE A HORRID RAP SHEET THE OFFICIALS WON'T DETAIN....NEVER TAKE A PAGE OUT OF THE PASSPORT, IT WILL SHOW YOU ARE HIDING SOMETHING AND TRUST ME IN THE COMPUTER IT IS RECORDED WHERE' YOUVE BEEN ON THE PASSPORT.

they will probably ask you why you went to Iran. it may be a good idea to take details of the reason for your visit to Iran, college research/holiday/work or whatever with you to the US.

Don't try going to Israel though

You could easily get a replacement passport, at whatever they cost now (80 pounds?) This would definitely be worth it to avoid any problems at US immigration. To get one quickly, I think you can pay your travel agent to organise it.

Source(s): DON'T TAKE THE PAGE OUT as suggested above!

Iraq yes, Iran probably less so (but beware of US officials who don;t know the difference). Don't remove the page, you will invalidate your passport. You may be subject to a few extra questions on entry (e.g. 'Have you ever participated in terrorist activity?' Just to clue you in, the correct answer to that searching query is 'No'.)

No, you can ask at the J-1 Interview if you like.

Not on that alone, I shouldn't think. It may add up with other things, though, if you catch their attention.

do not rely on any answer here because you should ask this question to the American embassy in your country.
